FAWL Seeks Observers for FLSCT Interviews

In the over 150 year history of the Florida Supreme Court, only four women have served on the Court.  Due to the recent appointment of Justices Barbara Lagoa and Robert Luck to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, there are two current vacancies on the Florida Supreme Court, and with that, the chance for the appointment of two more women to the Florida Supreme Court.   The JNC Oversight program furthers FAWL’s mission of achieving gender equality in the legal profession by ensuring that gender bias plays no role in the appointment of members to the judicial branch.  Please help us in this mission by observing the upcoming interviews for the open vacancies on the Florida Supreme Court.

The Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission has received 32 applications, 14 of which are women. The full list of the applicants and their applications may be found here: https://www.floridabar.org/directories/jnc/applicants-for-florida-supreme-court-justice-vacancies/.  Volunteers are needed to observe the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) interviews on January 11-12, 2020 taking place in Orlando.
