FAWL received the Public Service Award from the National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations for the Nursing Rooms in Courthouses Project this week.
FAWL chapters and members are Sparking a Change Reaction (theme for NCWBA Summit) nationally and making the justice system more inclusive and accessible for lawyers, courthouse personnel, parties, jurors, and all those with business before the court.
Please share the Courthouse Lactation Room Handbook (soon available on FAWL homepage) and speak with Joann Grages Burnett, Task Force Chair, if you are interested in furtherance of efforts in your own local courthouses.
FAWL sends thanks to Jamie Karpman for nominating FAWL for this award, FAWL – STU LAW for contributing pro bono work to creating the guide so that this project can be easily replicated, and the The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division for supporting this goal, and “enormous thanks” to the Chief of the Conference of Circuit Court Judges for sharing the guide with every Chief Judge in Florida.
FAWL was also featured in discussions on parental leave in local and national media. Please direct press inquiries to Public Relations Director Iris Elijah and Executive Director Kevin Hudson at email@example.com. Recent media links include Trial Date v. Due Date: Courts Make Room for Parental Leave (Bloomberg) and Florida Attorneys Could Soon Get New Parental Leave Rule (Daily Business Review).
